How to crop an image to an aspect ratio

  1. Choose an image or drop it on the tool. PNG, JPEG and WebP work.
  2. Pick an aspect ratio, for example 4:5 for an Instagram post or 16:9 for a YouTube thumbnail, or enter your own.
  3. Drag the image to place it in the frame. Zoom with the slider, the mouse wheel, two fingers or the buttons.
  4. Download the image. It has the same file format as the original.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Nothing is uploaded - the image never leaves your browser. The crop is processed entirely in your browser with the Canvas API.
Why is the output smaller than my original image?
The output uses only the pixels inside the frame and never enlarges them. The more you zoom in, the fewer pixels are in the frame. The longest side is limited to 4096 px.
Is the EXIF metadata kept?
No. The downloaded file contains no metadata, such as location, date or camera data. The orientation of the photo is applied first, so the image stays upright.
Which file format does the download have?
The same as the original: PNG stays PNG and JPEG stays JPEG. WebP stays WebP if your browser can save WebP; if not, you get a PNG.
